The website is often the first form of interaction people have with UC Berkeley MSA. Freshman considering applying to or accepting offers from Berkeley will look up our MSA and find our website first. People who want to get into contact with us but may not be familiar with Facebook will go to our website. And most importantly, our website allows for centralized information for current students as well as potential donors.
The website is primarily comprised of the following pages.
The Home Page should direct members to the immediate methods of getting involved in MSA. This includes a subscription to the Newsletter, links to all of the Facebook groups, committees, and events. Once they sign up for the newsletter, they will recieve a welcome email giving them more information, and they will ve added to the MailChimp roster under General Newsletter.
The About Page should include MSA's mission statement and vision. It should also showcase the board members, their titles, and their contact information (MSA emails). It's a good idea to have short bios as well, but not wholly necessary. This allows the community to know what Berkeley MSA is about, and who the first people they should go to are.
The Events page has the Public MSA Google Calendar embedded into it. It's updated automatically when the google calendar is updated. This allows us to be transparent about all of our meetings and events to the public.
The Committees page should include a brief description of all six committees and a method of joining them. As of now, this is a link to each committee's respective Google Forms. Ideally, the Committees page should also include updates and information about each committee's progress throughout the semester.
The New Students page serves as a portal for incoming and prospective students to get information that is directly targeted at them. This includes the Facebook groups, admit events hosted by the Youth Outreach Committee, and a method of communication should they have any questions.
This page should display information about MSA spaces on and near campus. This includes the Meditation Room in Eshleman Basement, the Eshleman 3rd floor cubicle, Heart Gym Jummahs, and Berkeley Masjid.
This should direct members to the Facebook housing pages as well as the MSA Housing portal, to make their housing search more streamlined.
This page should include a list of Frequently Asked Questions of the MSA as well as easy and direct answers to them.
This page includes Basic Needs resources that are available through UC Berkeley and in Alameda County for students who may be food, housing, or financially insecure.
This page is essential for potential donors! The Donate page has a portal that encourages regular monthly donations, as well as information so that donors know where their money will go.
The Contact Us page allows visitors to ask any questions that they may have of MSA. This is directly linked to the communications@msa.berkeley.edu email, and it is the responsibility of the Communications Director to respond to them.
Instead of using tinyurls, it is often helpful to use our website address (ie www.berkeleymsa.org/custom-name) to redirect to Google Forms and other online resources.
